What to expect in taking the Amtrak train?
I take the Amtrak train from Boston to Virginia Beach to visit a friend. I never traveled in their entirety by VHA and myslef Amtrak has never been. I have some questions. I contacted Amtrak Baggage, which said they had no luggage for the train journey that took me and allows me to take Carry-ons 2. He was put through metal detectors? I put on a projector? Really do not know where I'm going well. Are there many signs of AA tell me where to go? Can I check somewhere and then go to a place on board? I also have to take a taxi because the train leaves at 6 am and buses and trains early. Not run a taxi 24 hours, and in general how much is 5 miles? Thanks guys!
I'll try to answer some of your questions: - I guess I take the train 95/495, This leaves Boston South Station at 6:05 am, arriving in Newport News this evening at 6:50 pm. I guess then transferred to a bus booked to take you to Virginia Beach from 8:30 pm. The majority - Amtrak trains, except those that offer the service at night, have no checked baggage these days. - There will be a roof rack in his seat, where you can store a couple of medium-sized suitcases. - Security is up Amtrak and vary depending on the current state of Homeland Security, but in all likelihood, not be baggage x-ray or put into a metal detector. They have the right to inspect, however, and could be a dog "sniffing" of explosives and other prohibited items. - If you have the entry on arrival in Boston's South Station, not check in. Just watch the television screens showing departures, showing the door of your train leave, and head there. Before you can face the front door will be reviewed and will be directed to the train. - I'm not very familiar with taxis in Boston, but in all major cities that operate on a 24-hour basis. To ensure that tomorrow will be there for you, you should call one of the taxi companies yesterday and see if you can program one to pick you up from home. I do not know how much they charge, but I hazard a guess about $ 10 - $ 20.
