would you be able to use a dimmer on a neon sign trasformer?
I have seen adjustable high voltagetransformers for around $900 but wouldnt it work if i put a dimmer switch on the primary?(the wire from the wall to the transformer)
Don't really know, but it would take a dimmer designed to operate
a brush style electric motor, not one made for a ceiling fan.
Built one years ago. to operate a fan. On an oscilloscope the top and bottom or the waveform were clipped off. Adjusting the speed control changed the peak to peak voltage of the speed control output.
I am a mad scientist I would try it. Don't continue the test if you
notice the transformer getting hotter than normal.
