Nobody wants to learn the language of the tires, except mechanics. That's what they pay to get their fingers greasy and fix our cars. When I say we, I mean your average person. But could consider that there is something anyone can learn to really help when you are looking for tires? Perhaps there is some knowledge that can be drawn from something to do all the time. I know I've learned.

Normal, it seems, or at least people like me, simply check the label on the side of the tires that are already in their cars when they need new tires. I have always done anyway. Then you can compare the name with other tires in the price range and make your choice. Sounds simple. But is it wise?
